Photographed in the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Haines Alaska. This 48,000-acre preserve was created by the State of Alaska in 1982 to protect and perpetuate one of the world’s largest concentrations of Bald Eagles and their habitat. It also sustains and protects the natural salmon runs. Although it is a year-round home to bald eagles, the largest congregation of eagles is during late fall and early winter when the eagles feed on spawning chum salmon.
